1. Why does Pony have a problem with Johnny's idea to disguise themselves?
Ponyboy has a problem with Johnny Disguising themselves because it took him a long time to grow out his hair, and he was actually happy with his appearance at the time and he didnt want to ruin his identity. He also didnt want to disguise himself because he didnt want to become a different person during this hard and confusing time in his life.
2. What does Pony mean when he says, "I was supposed to be the deep one" (p. 75)?
When Ponyboy says " I was suppose to be the deep one", what he meant by that was, he was always the one that can find the deeper and more meaningful thing behind something such as the poem he read to Johnny, so Pony was surprised when Johnny knew what was actually happening in a deeper sense.
3. Why does Johnny think he is a hero (p. 76)? Do you think Dally is a hero based on what he did?
Johnny thinks Dally is a hero because he has been helping them this whole time through what has been happening and he didnt rat them out to Soda or Darry are anyone else. He also didnt rat out Two-Bit either. I dont really think Dally is a hero but I think he can be a good friend. I think this way because its probably not the smartest thing that hes not telling anyone where Johnny & Ponyboy are but then its also giving them some time to get away from all thing things that are going on back home. But its also not that good because Soda and Darry are really worrried and want to no where they are .
4. Why does Pony realize he doesn't like Dally? Can you explain what he means by this?
Pony realizes he doesn't like Dally because he is a very realistic person and ye was very gallant. He also relized he doesn't have very many manners either. Such as the way they treated those girls at the drive in movie.
5. Examine Robert Frost's poem, Nothing Gold can Stay. What do you think the poem is saying? How might this apply to the characters in the novel?
What I think the Poem is saying is, its describing the up and downs of life , its very deep and it means alot in very few words.I also think its saying try to hold on to what you have cause' it could be gone before you know it. It can also be be saying look at how fast life passes you by, and it can be over in a blink of the eye . This could possibly apply to the characters in the novel because so much has happened to them in there life and there not even over the age of 2O yet. So I think for them this poem can say, no matter how old you are, the biggest things can happen to you at the youngest age in life.
Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
6. On page 78, Johnny compares Pony and his brothers to their parents. Which one of your parents are you most like? What similarities do you share?
I think I might like his dad the most, hes very loud and outgoing, and it just really reminds me of my family. Then there's my mom who's very sweet and kinda and caring to it rubs off on me both ways. I always show respect towards my friends and family as well.
7. What does Pony mean when he says he drinks Pepsis like a friend (p.78)?
Ponyboy says he drinks Pepsi's like a friend because he is addicted to it . He drinks it all the time, and Pepsi is there for him when he needs it the most and when he's very thirsty , like a true friend. Just like Johnny was there for him and vice versa, and so was Dally when he needed him most.
8. What's a 'heater'? Why does Dally have one?
A "heater" is another word for a gun. I know this because Ponyboy said that heaters kill people. Dally said that the "heater" wouldn't be loaded but still it could kill someone.
9. Why are the socs and the greasers going to fight in the vacant lot?
The Socs and the Greasers are going to fight in the vacant lot because Johnny and Ponyboy killed one of the Socs and he had lots of friends. The Socs want to get revenge on the Greasers.
10. Who's the spy for the greasers? Does this surprise you? Why or why not?
The spy for the Greasers is Cherry. This really didn't come as a shock to me because ever since Ponyboy met Cherry at the movies, I could tell right away she was different than the rest of the Socs. She was special and caring and liked Ponyboy in a way. You could tell she and Ponyboy were going to be good friends and maybe even go out in other chapters to come.

1. What does Pony mean when he says the socs were "reeling pickled" on page 54?

2. What major event happens in this chapter?
The major event that happens in chapter 4 is Johnny killed one of the Socs, at night by the fountain.
3. How did the author foreshadow that Johnny would use his knife in Chapter 2?
The author foreshadowded that Johnny would use his knife buy telling us that if it was a near death situation, only if it was the right time and place and events happening that would make the situation eligible for Johnny to use his knife.
4. What would your advice be to Johhny and Ponyboy if they'd come to you for help instead of Dally? Explain.
I think my advice to Ponyboy & Johnny would be the total opposite from Dally's. I understand where Dally was coming from telling them to run away and he did really help them ,
but I don't think it was the best solution for them, considering where they come from .
I think my advice to them would be, to turn them selves in, johnny killed another Human Bring and that the biggest most worst thing you could probably do .
And by Dally telling them to run away, isn't going to make the situation better in the long run.

My paragraph ((( :
One day Billy decided to go to the corner store without telling his parents. But his mom had a premonition that he might of left the house, because they had gotten into an argument before over him not taking on responsibility and she new that the way Billy would let off steam is to go to the store and buy a candy bar. Billy was sort of a hermit, he didn’t get out very much but he had a lot of friends. He was always busy with sports and family, he didn’t even have much time to get out. His parents were ruefully for him, but deep down in side they new he was happy. So Billy returned home, and apologized for leaving the house without asking, and his parents accepted it.

Natasha's friends set her up to be on the new hit- reality t.v show called "my super sweet 16". Its about theses 16 year olds, who have big extravagent killer birthday bashes. But the downside to this is Natasha was known for her "pickyiness". So she screamed out "THIS IS THE MOST ORNERY CAKE I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE" becasue it was full of unicorns and horses, things she used to love when she was a little girl. The theme to her party was "back in the days" so it was mainly set on things she used to love and do when she was a kid. She pulled her mom, 3 sisters and aunt aside and told them, " impersonally, or nothing but I HATE THE THEME OF MY PARTY, how could you do this to me and my sweet 16 ? By this point Natasha was very aloof to this whole situation, and didn't no what to do. Which in the end just made Darry twice as mad at the fact that Soda always sticks up for Pony. Then things really got out of hand when Darry Slaps Ponyright in the face smashing him towards the door. The 3 of them were in shock, no one in Pony's family has ever laid a fingure on him. There eyes were widing. Darry trys to appologise, but its too late. One snowy winter day little Andy, was outside with his friends at school for recess. They were playing in their fort, when suddenly those mean 7th graders, came to destroy it. So before they could attack, Andy quickly, picked up a block of snow and through it right at Billy’s eye. Later that day, Principal Lexter found out about what Andy did. He quickly phoned Andy’s parents. Andy went home later that day, and vaguely explained what happened to in the afternoon. As, Andy was explaining he looked very nonchalantly, so his parents knew something was wrong. His parents were very incredulous about the story he was telling them, but they called the Principal Lexter back, and talked out the story. 1. Describe each of the characters in this chapter and their relationship with one another.
There were 3 main characters in this chapter, first Ponyboy- has light brown hair, almost red and greenish eyes. His hair is long then most of the other boys wear it. Squared off at the back and long out the sides. Hes 14 years old.
Soda-Pop; hes the movie star kid-of handsom, hes 16 going on 17. Hes a happy go lucky and always grinning. Darry is 6 foot 2 broad-shouldered and muscular. He has dark brown hair that kicks out in front and a slight cowlick in the back. He is also the toughest one out of all 3 of them. Hes always getting into trouble, hes 20 years old. His stature is hard and firm and he rarely grins at all. The relationship with them is simple, they were just 3 friends that had grown up in the same neighborhood, but Soda-Pop and Ponyboy were actually brothers. But the 3 of them new each other long enough to consider each other brothers,
so they did .
2. Who are the Socs?Who are the Greasers?
The socs are the socials ( abbreviation), The Jet Set, the West-Side rich kids, they'd jump greasers and wreck houses and through beer blasts for kicks. They get editorials in the paper just for being a public disgrace.
The greasers- almost like hoods, they steal things, and drive old souped-up car, they also would hold up gas stations and have gang fights once in a while. They wear their hair long, and dress in blue jeans & t-shirts. They leave their shirttails out and wear leather jackets , tennis shoes and boots.
3. How do Ponyboy's relationships with Darry and Sodapop differ? Explain.
Ponyboy's relationship with Darry & Soda-Pop differs by ...
Soda-Pop understands Ponyboy more, hes also more laid back nice & easy going. Then with Darry he always excepts something out of Ponyboy like to do well in school, not to get jumped, not to walk alone, important things like that .
4. Why is the 'gang' important to Johnny?
The gang is important to Johnny because he had it awful rough at home and he needed something to make him feel safe and something that would make him feel better and take his mind of the bad things that were going on in his life , or his home life . He also wanted somewhere he could feel like he belonged.
5. How does Ponyboy react to what Sodapop tells him about Darry?
When Soda-Pop tells Ponyboy about Darry, Ponyboy reacted confused, it didn't seem like he knew what was going on, and he didn't no how to respond to Soda-Pop.
6. Do you think Darry loves Ponyboy? Why does he treat Ponyboy the way he does?
YES ! , I definitely think Darry loves Ponyboy alot , and thats why he treats him the way he does. TO me Darry isnt doing it to be mean , hes doing it to look out for Ponyboy. Darry only wants the best for Ponyboy, and hes looking out for him because he wants him to be safe and he cares about him alot .
7. What does Ponyboy mean on page 8 when he says, "I lie to myself all the time"? Do you ever lie to yourself? Why?
What I think Ponyboy meant from this phrase was he tells him-self things that aren't true, but when hes talking to Soda-Pop or Darry hes not afraid to tell them the truth. I think Ponyboys smart, and he really does know whats going on , so he lies to him-self to make him feel better.
