*chApter 2

MY PARAGRAPH ((:
One snowy winter day little Andy, was outside with his friends at school for recess. They were playing in their fort, when suddenly those mean 7th graders, came to destroy it. So before they could attack, Andy quickly, picked up a block of snow and through it right at Billy’s eye. Later that day, Principal Lexter found out about what Andy did. He quickly phoned Andy’s parents. Andy went home later that day, and vaguely explained what happened to in the afternoon. As, Andy was explaining he looked very nonchalantly, so his parents knew something was wrong. His parents were very incredulous about the story he was telling them, but they called the Principal Lexter back, and talked out the story. Andy’s punishment was to stay after school for 2 weeks and help Miss.Applebom with any marking.





1. Who is the fuzz? (p. 20)
The "Fuzz" are cops/ police men or women , or anyone with a high authority.

2. Are the names Ponyboy and Sodapop nicknames? Explain.
No, the names Soda-Pop and Ponyboy are their real names, there father gave them, because he thought it was simple, and unique . And there father was an original person.

3. Who are Cherry and Marcia?
Cherry and Marcia are to girls that go to Ponyboys school, and are on the cheer leading team , there from the west-side so there considered "the Socs" There really pretty according to Ponyboy and Darry.

4. Why doesn't Ponyboy like referring to Sodapop as a dropout?
Ponyboy doesn't like referring to Soda-Pop as a "dropout" because it made him think of some poor dumb-looking hoodlum wandering the streets breaking out streets lights. And it didn't fit Ponyboys Happy go lucky brother at all, but it did fit Darry perfectly.


5. What is Ponyboy comparing Two-Bit to when he calls him a "chessy cat" on page 27? What figure of speech is this besides a simile?
When Ponyboy calls Two-Bit a "chessy cat" hes comparing him to Cheshire cat , kind of like a fake smile with sarcasm.

6. What is "a weed" slang for in 1967?
In 1967 " a weed" is slang for a feeble person or a weakling.

7. Why does Dally look sick now (p. 33)?
Dally looks sick now because this was one of his friends he was talking about , when he saw people being killed on the streets of new york , he didn't no the m, so it was a natural thing for him to see . But he took one look at Johnny saw him all banged up and was sick to his stomach.

8. What literary device does the author use to describe Johnny's mugging (pgs. 31-34)?
