*chApter 6

bewildered - completely puzzled or confused; perplexed.

sentence- The grade 8 class was very bewildered when there teacher tried to teach them a new math lesson.

1. Do you think Dally's parents have influenced the way he is; his personality? Explain.
Yes, I think Dally's parents have influenced him the way he is personally . This is because Dally says that his parents are like Johnny's. They don't care about him if hes in trouble or in jail or dead or not around. When your parents don't show you the love and affection you need to have , it hurts and can turn you to something your not. His parents, not loving him has made him tough and rugged, this way he doesn't show any emotion or feeling for the world or towards anything. By being though, he doesn't have to show anyone his emotions or how he really feels or how he wants to feel.

2. Why doesn't Dally want Johnny to turn himself in?
Dally doesn't want Ponyboy and Johnny to turn themselves in because they are Greasers, and Greasers get it worse than anyone else. They both might have a longer punishment or sentence and someone who isn't a Greaser.

3. What "other side" of Dallas is revealed in this chapter?
The other side of Dally that was shown in this chapter was a softer more caring side. Dally admits to not being mad or angry, just worried and caring for Johnny. He doesn't want to see him get hurt or anything, because a few months in jail can turn a person into something there not. You get alot more tough in jail , and Dally doesn't want that to happen to Johnny or even Ponyboy.

4. What's your own definition of a hero? Do the three boys prove themselves to be heroes, according to your definition? Explain.
My definition of a hero is excellence. These boys are definitely hero's from the way I see it.. They saved children's lives. They thought of others before themselves. They were courageous and definitely a hero . They were fearless and helped others and mostly brave , and for this they're hero's in my eyes.

5. Why do you think Johnny wasn't scared, despite the obvious danger, on page 92?
Johnny wasn't scared because he knew it was something he had to do, and he new it was the right thing to do. The building was on fire and children were stuck in it. It was a courageous thing for him to do. Him and Ponyboy started the fire so it was their responsibility to help stop it and help the people inside get out. Johnny looked like he was having the time of his life, because he was saving lives while he was at it and he felt really good doing it, because he knew it was something very heroic to do. He didn't have a sad or depressing look on his face, he was pleased and proud.
